FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 16 TCU Horned Frogs are set to open up play in the NCAA Houston Regional Friday afternoon. The second-seeded Horned Frogs will square off against the region's third seed, Baylor. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m. at Rice's Reckling Park. TCU NOTABLES
The Frogs swept through the MWC Tournament to win their fourt straight conference tourney.
Since opening the season 6-4, the Frogs are 40-8.
TCU did not lose a weekend series all year, finishing a perfect 13-0.
Friday's victory over New Mexico established a new record for wins in a season. With every win that record increases.
TCU is just one of eight schools in the country with 45 or more wins.
The Frogs are one of just 19 schools to appear in the last four Regionals and one of just three Texas schools to hold that honor.
TOURNAMENT BASE KNOCKS
TCU earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament in 2004 for the first time in 10 years.
This is the first time the Frogs have been in the tournament in four straight years.
TCU went 1-2 in the Norman Regional a year ago, topping Oklahoma in the opener and falling to Wichita State before being knocked out by Oklahoma.
TCU was in a regional for the first time in 1956.
TCU owns an all-time record of 4-10 in the playoffs.
The Frogs first NCAA Tournament victory came against Memphis in the Midwest Regional on May 27, 1994 in Stillwater, Okla.
OFFENSIVE MINDED FROGS
The Frogs rank 33rd in the nation with a .316 batting average.
That is thanks to tallying double-digit hit totals in 41 of their 58 games this season.
Frog hitters have tallied 184 multiple hit contests this season.
Andrew Walker and Austin Adams have each tallied 23 multi-hit games. The Frogs also led the league with 59 home runs.
Frog hitters have connected for a home run in 36 of the games this season.
Austin Adams leads with 14 long balls.
DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS
TCU is fielding a league-high .974 this season.
That percentage is ranked 15th nationally.
The Frogs have played flawless defense in 24 games this season.
16 of the 59 team errors have come from pitchers.
Without the pitcher's errors, the Frogs are fielding at a .980 clip.
