WACO, Texas -- The American Football Coaches Association will recognize TCU for graduating 70 percent or more of its football student-athletes who entered as freshmen in 2001-02.
The Horned Frogs were above the national average of 60 percent and the median graduation rate of 59 percent.
The study involves the freshman class from the academic year of 2001-02, including those who entered at that time but who did not receive financial aid until after their initial year, or who transferred from another institution and subsequently received a grant-in-aid.
TCU is one of just five teams in the nation to reach 11 wins three times in the last four years. The others are Boise State, LSU, Oklahoma and USC. The Frogs have appeared in the postseason top 25 five times in the past seven seasons.
With a 64-21 (.753) mark, TCU has the 11th-best record in the nation since 2000.
The Frogs, who open the 2007 campaign with a Sept. 1 home game versus Baylor, have won eight in a row to tie for the fourth-longest current streak in the nation.
TCU returns nine defensive starters from a unit that ranked second nationally in total defense last season. The Frogs have six returning starters on offense.
