
TCU announces April award recipients

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Athletics Department announced its monthly student-athlete awards for the month of April on Tuesday.
The four monthly categories are Male and Female Athlete of the Month and Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Month.
On the men's side, Steven Trout was named Male Athlete of the Month, while Cosmin Cotet was tabbed as Male Scholar-Athlete of the Month.
On the women's side, Virgil Hodge was named Female Athlete of the Month and McKale Davis was selected as the Female Scholar-Athlete of the Month.
Trout, a senior third baseman from Hook, Texas, hit .394 and had an on-base percentage of .487 as the Horned Frogs finish April with a 14-2 record.
For the month, Trout led TCU with 26 hits and seven doubles. He also drove in 13 runs, finished 3-for-3 on stolen base attempts and tied for the team lead with nine walks.
A junior netter from Iasi, Romania, Cotet recorded an overall mark of 9-3 in the month of April. On April 14, Cotet defeated his fourth ranked opponent of the season with a straight sets victory over No. 89 Elliot Wronski of UNLV.
During the month, Kotet went 5-1 in doubles play with Kriegler Brink, pushing the duo's season mark to 16-4.
Cotet's success earned him a ranking in both singles and doubles throughout the entire month of April. Cotet's success was also recognized by the league office with Cotet earning All-MWC singles and doubles honors on April 25.
Hodge, a junior sprinter from Basseterre, St. Kitts, posted the fourth-fastest time in the world in the 200 meters and the second-fastest wind-aided time in the world in 100 meters at the TCU Invitational on April 21.
Hodge was also a member of TCU's 4x200 relay team that set the school record at the Penn Relays on April 27 with a time of 1:33.21.
Running in the 4x100 relay Hodge helped TCU finish fourth at the Penn Relays with a season-best mark of 44.27. In fact two of TCU's fastest times in the 4x100 meters this season have come during April. Hodge helped the relay team record the third-fastest time (44.83) of the season on April 6 at the Texas Relays.
A senior distance runner from Fairfax, Okla., Davis holds TCU's top two times in the 5,000 meters and twice recorded personal bests in event during the month of April.
Davis clocked a personal-best time of 17:20.79 en route to finishing 20th in the 5,000 meters at the Penn Relays. Davis' time topped her previous personal-best time of 17:33.93 that she set with a fourth-place finish at the Texas Relays on April 4.
