
TCU travels to Austin to compete in Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas - The TCU track and field team will stay in the state of Texas for the third straight week when it travels to Austin to compete in the 80th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays April 4-7 at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
The annual meet is comprised of the top professional, college and high school athletes in the U.S. and is held on the University of Texas campus. TCU will begin competition at 6 p.m. Wednesday with Cody Cook in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Ashley Young will open competition for the women's team in the 800 meters at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Both the men's and women's teams have had strong showings in the first two meets of the season. The women's team has posted 15 NCAA regional qualifying marks, while the men's team has eight regional qualifying marks. The Texas Relays will mark the third of six straight weeks that TCU will compete in a track meet leading up to the Mountain West Conference Outdoor Championships to be held May 10-12.
TCU has a long history of success at the Texas Relays. TCU continued its success at the meet last season, as Jonathan Jackson won the gold in the men's triple jump with a leap of 51-07.00. The gold was the Frogs' first in the meet since 2001.
TCU will be led at the relays by Delwayne Delaney and Virgil Hodge. Both natives of St. Kitts, Hodge and Delaney hold the second and third fastest times in the country in the 100 meters, respectively. Hodge's time of 11.29 and Delaney's time of 10.29 are the fastest in the Midwest region.
Distance events will take place on Wednesday, while field, sprint and hurdle events will take place Thursday-Saturday.
