COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU junior sprinter Virgil Hodge has been named Mountain West Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Co-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
A native of Basseterre, St. Kitts, Hodge won the 100 and 200 meters at the TCU Invitational on Saturday. The honor is the second of the season, but first during the outdoor campaign for Hodge, who also received the honor on Jan. 23.
In the 200 meters, Hodge's time of 22.81 not only set a Lowdon Track Complex record and earned her an NCAA regional qualifying mark, it is also currently ranked as the third-fastest time in the world this season.
Despite winning the 100, Hodge's time of 11.19 did not count in the record book or toward regional qualifying due to a wind measured at 4.8. However, her wind-aided time is ranked first among wind-aided times in the world this season.
The athlete of the week honor is the fourth of the year for TCU. Also earning honors were Candis Kelley on Feb. 13, Hodge on Jan. 23 and Delwayne Delaney on March 27.
TCU will return to action on Thursday at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa.
