FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Virgil Hodge set a TCU record while earning All-America status in the women's 200 meters Friday at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.Hodge's time of 22.99 in the 200 meters placed seventh. Auburn's Kerron Stewart won with a mark of 22.58. Just .09 seconds separated Hodge from the 22.90 posted by second-place finisher Kelly Ann Baptiste of LSU.
Hodge shattered her previous school-record time of 23.27 set last month at the Mountain West Conference Championships.
"Virgil's time of 22.99 would have been good enough to win in years past," TCU coach Darryl Anderson said. "With weather hampering our training for several months, a performance like this by Virgil speaks volumes about her ability level.
"This effort sets up Virgil well to have a great outdoor season."
Saturday's final day of competition will see the Flyin' Frog women represented by the mile relay team of Marquita Davis, Deborah Jones, Kishelle Paul, Nathandra John and Jamee Jones.
