INDIANAPOLIS -- Former TCU football players Jared Retkofsky, Herb Taylor and Marvin White have been invited to take part in the 2007 NFL Scouting Combine beginning Thursday.Retkofsky, a three-year letterman on the defensive line, is being evaluated as a long snapper.
Taylor, an offensive tackle, started all 49 TCU games over the last four seasons. He was a first-team All-Mountain West Conference selection as a junior and senior. The Houston native appeared on watch lists for the 2006 Lombardi Trophy and Outland Trophy.
Taylor anchored a Horned Frog offensive line that allowed just 15 sacks last season, tied for the sixth-lowest mark nationally. He also helped pave the way for a TCU rushing attack which placed ninth in the country with its average of 194.6 yards per game.
White, a two-time All-MWC selection at safety, topped TCU in 2006 with 86 tackles and four interceptions. He was named the MWC Defensive Player of the Week after victories over Baylor and Texas Tech. He posted a career-best 14 tackles in the 17-7 win against the Bears while contributing eight stops and three pass break-ups in the 12-3 decision over the Red Raiders.
In just two seasons at TCU, after transferring from Kilgore Junior College, White totaled 153 stops and seven picks.
Taylor and White both played in last month's East-West Shrine Game.
