TCU is playing at Qualcomm Stadium for the third straight year. The Frogs won 23-20 versus the Aztecs in 2005 before last season's 37-7 victory over Northern Illinois in the Poinsettia Bowl.
The Frogs are making their second appearance in California this season. TCU won 38-36 at Stanford (Oct. 13) the week after the Cardinal knocked off then-No. 2 USC.
TCU is 5-1 in regular-season finales, including a 2-0 mark on the road, under head coach Gary Patterson.
Since the start of the 2005 campaign, the Frogs are 25-3 when playing on Saturdays and 3-5 on other days of the week.
TCU is 8-1 in November games over the last three seasons.
The Frogs are looking for their first back-to-back wins since Sept. 22-29.
SERIES HISTORY
TCU holds a 2-0 series lead over San Diego State. Both meetings have taken place since the Frogs began Mountain West Conference play in 2005.
TCU won 23-20 in San Diego in 2005 before a 52-0 victory in Fort Worth last year.
The Frogs and Aztecs never played during the three seasons (1996-98) both teams were members of the Western Athletic Conference.
ROAD WARRIORS
TCU is 19-11 (.633) in road and neutral-site games since 2003, placing 12th nationally.
The Frogs are 9-5 while allowing 19.6 points per game in their last 14 road contests.
SUPER BOWL SITES
Saturday's date at San Diego State will mark TCU's fifth contest in a 29-game stretch in which it will play in a stadium that's hosted a Super Bowl.
During that span, in which they are 4-0, the Frogs have also taken the field at Reliant Stadium in Houston and Stanford Stadium.
FROG TIDBITS
Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Year candidate Chase Ortiz received the league's weekly defensive award for his play against UNLV. A senior defensive end, Ortiz had three tackles for a loss, including two sacks, among seven total stops. He also forced two fumbles while recovering one.
In its six wins, TCU averages the same amount of rushing yards (193.8) as passing.
The Frogs have allowed 12 points or less in five of their six victories. TCU has won 55 in a row, including 40 under head coach Gary Patterson, when allowing 17 or fewer points.
