COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- TCU tailback Aaron Brown has been named the Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday's 24-12 win over Colorado State.
The 2007 Preseason MWC Offensive Player of the Year, Brown rushed for 124 yards on 22 carries while adding three receptions for 26 yards. He had two catches for 19 yards on the Frogs' opening series of the game, a 12-play, 83-yard possession capped by a 4-yard Marcus Jackson scoring run.
Brown posted the fifth 100-yard rushing game of his career. TCU is 5-0 in those contests. It was also Brown's first time reaching the century mark since the Frogs' previous game against the Rams (Nov. 25, 2006), when he ran for a career-best 166 yards and three touchdowns while totaling 285 all-purpose yards.
A junior from Katy, Texas, Brown is averaging a career-high 6.4 yards per rush attempt this season. He needs 198 yards to reach the 2,000 career rushing mark.
Brown was making his first start since the season-opening 27-0 victory over Baylor, when he suffered a first-quarter injury. He did not play in losses at Texas and Air Force.
Brown returned to action Sept. 22 in a 21-7 win against SMU. With his first touch against the Mustangs, he raced around right end for a 26-yard gain. Brown then carried for 14 yards on the next snap. He finished the game with a TCU-best 92 yards rushing on just 11 carries while also tying for the team lead with three receptions for 16 yards.
TCU (3-2, 1-1) is at Wyoming (3-1, 0-0) Saturday at 1 p.m. (Central).
