
Volleyball announces signing of Silveira

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU volleyball program has announced the signing of Mariana Silveira to an acceptance of a written offer of financial aid.Silveira led Minas Tenis Clube to a gold medal at the 2002 Brazilian Championship and to bronze medals in 2003 and 2004.
"We are pleased with the international experience that Mariana will bring to the team defensively," Horned Frog coach Prentice Lewis said.
Silveira will be just the third foreign player in TCU's volleyball history. She will be joined on the 2006 roster by senior and Gyor, Hungary, native Àgi Nèmeth.
"I am very excited about having the opportunity to study and play in the states," Silveira said. "I look forward to attending TCU."
The Frogs open their 2006 slate with a pair of home matches on Aug. 25. TCU hosts Loyola (Md.) at noon before a 7:30 p.m. contest versus South Carolina at the University Rec Center.
