FORT WORTH, Texas - The NCAA Baseball Regional brackets were announced Monday on ESPN. The TCU Horned Frogs will be heading to Norman, Okla. to take part in the Norman Regional. The Frogs enter the tournament as the fourth seed in the region. They will play the region's top seed, Oklahoma on Friday. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Friday, June 3 and run through Monday. The Frogs will square off against the Sooners on Friday at 7 p.m. at Oklahoma's L. Dale Mitchell Park.
The other two teams in the bracket are two-seeded Houston and the third-seeded Wichita State.
For the third straight season, the Horned Frogs will make an appearance in the NCAA Regional Tournament. The Frogs were the third seed in the Austin Regional in 2004 and made the trek south as the two seed in the Waco Regional in 2005. TCU is one of just three schools in the state of Texas to appear in three straight NCAA Regionals, joining Texas and Rice as the other two. This will be the fifth overall appearance for TCU. Prior to this stretch of three straight, the Frogs appeared in the 1956 and 1994 tournaments.
The winner of the Norman Regional will play the winner of the Rice Regional in the Super Regionals. The four teams in that region include the host school, Rice, Prairie View A&M, Baylor and Arizona State.
The Frogs are the only Mountain West Conference team to earn a berth into the 2006 Tournament.
