About the Series
The Horned Frogs will be going for their first midweek win when they host the Dallas Baptist Patriots on Tuesday night. The Patriots and the Frogs will put two-game winning streaks on the line. The Frogs are fresh off of their first series win of the season after winning the final two games against Wright State. Dallas Baptist is coming off a 9-1 win over UT-Arlington in which starter Rodney Brantley threw a no-hitter. The game is the fourth in a stretch of eight straight home games for the Horned Frogs.
About The Frogs
The Frogs have won four of their last five games entering Tuesday night. The wins are the result strong pitching performances from the starters and a bullpen that continues to get better each contest. The Frogs used their team speed on Sunday to help secure the series win over Wright State and have been playing small ball to put them into position to win games.
The Frogs pounded out 27 hits over the weekend, including 12 extra base hits. In Saturday's win, the middle of the lineup came through with four home runs to account for all eight runs. At the top of lineup, Steven Trout and Bryan Kervin have done their job getting on base. Trout has hit safely in all 10 contests this season and Kervin is in the midst of a seven-game hitting streak. Keith Conlon erupted for two home runs in Saturday's nightcap, while Chad Huffman and Austin Adams each hit their first of the season. The Frogs suffered a blow late in game two on Saturday as Huffman left the game with an injury that will keep him out of Tuesday's game.
On the mound, the Frogs continue to improve. Omar Arif continues to shine out of the bullpen as does Dillon Farish, who has appeared in seven of the first 10 contests. Jake Arrieta improved to 3-0 on the season, earning the win in game two. Shawn Ferguson had a strong outing in the first game of the series, pitching 3.1 innings and striking out four. Despite not starting, Brad Furnish played a big role in the Frogs success as he converted two saves.
About The Patriots
The Patriots are getting the job done both offensively and on the mound. The only facet of the game they have struggled with is defense as they average two errors per contest. As a team, DBU is hitting .312 and on the mound they own a team ERA of 4.82. Of their 122 hits on the season, they have tallied 40 extra base hits. Rodney Brantley was named National Pitcher of the Week after two outstanding outings last week, including a no-hitter against UTA in the Patriots win on Saturday. They have shown they are a speedy bunch, swiping 16 bags in 17 attempts. Israel Victor is the leading hitter with a .400 average, while Cody Montgomery and Will Stramp have three home runs each.
The Starters
TCU will send Donald Furrow to the mound on Tuesday night. The junior left-hander will be making his first start as a Horned Frog and his third appearance overall. He has a 4.50 ERA in just two innings of work. He has allowed a single run on three hits. His appearances have come against Rice in the Houston College Classic and against UT-Pan American in the Al Ogletree Classic.
The Patriots will counter with left-hander, Brice Wells. Wells will be making his team-leading fifth appearance of the season and his first start. He is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA in eight innings pitched. He has struck out five and walked two. He last pitched on Friday in the Patriots win over Oral Roberts. He tossed a scoreless inning of relief to help preserve the win for Randall Taylor.

Tuesday's meeting against the Patriots will mark the 48th meeting all-time between Dallas Baptist and TCU.
The Frogs won both meetings a year ago in Fort Worth.
Coach Schlossnagle is 4-2 all-time against the Patriots.
