
TCU eighth after opening round of Lady Puerto Rico Classic

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- The TCU women's golf team is in eighth place out of 16 teams after Friday's opening round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic.The Horned Frogs, making their 2006 spring debut, shot a 307 (+19) and trail leader and third-ranked Purdue (295, +7) by 12 strokes.
Camille Blackerby is the top TCU performer. She carded a 3-over-par 75 and is tied for 17th individually. Catherine Matranga and Carrie Morris both shot a 76 and are tied for 25th. Elin Emanuelsson and Elisa Gomez had opening-round scores of 80 and 83, respectively.
Ann Laney of North Carolina is the leader with a 4-under-par 68, three strokes ahead of Purdue's Onnarin Sattayabanphot (71).
Saturday's second round begins at 7 p.m. Central.
