FORT WORTH, Texas - A new beginning is underway for the TCU men's and women's track and field team, as they will be facing their league opponents for the first time at the 2006 Mountain West Conference Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. The three-day event takes place February 23-25 at the Albuquerque Convention Center, hosted by the University of New Mexico.
The 17th-ranked Flyin' Frogs will compete against five other schools in the league (Air Force, BYU, Colorado State, New Mexico and Wyoming), while women's track and field is sponsored by all nine MWC schools.
BYU has dominated the indoor event in both divisions since the inception of the league. The Cougar men, tied at 19th in the latest Trackwire 25 rankings, have won five of the six team championship titles.
The young, talented TCU women have found success this season; however, the BYU women have an unshakeable track record as all six of the league crowns belong to the Cougars.
For the first time in indoor track and field championship history, livestats will be available on the MWC website throughout the meet by logging onto www.themwc.com.
