FORT WORTH, Texas - The latest honor for left-handed pitcher Brad Furnish came from CollegeBaseballInsider.com as they named him on of two National Players of the Week on Wednesday. For Furnish, it is the third national honor of the week.
Furnish threw a 7-inning no-hitter to lead TCU to a 13-0 win over Stephen F. Austin. It was the second no-hitter in Mountain West Conference history and the first at TCU since the 2001 season when Chris Bradshaw no-hit Hawaii-Hilo on March 23. The no-hitter was the eighth in TCU history. He struck out a career high 13 batters en route to his first win of the season. Furnish faced just one batter over the minimum in the contest.
Furnish is the first Frog in school history to earn National Pitcher of the Week honors from three different publications. He was honored as the National Pitcher of the Week by Louisville Slugger and the NCBWA. The College Baseball Foundation listed Furnish on its weekly honor roll and the Mountain West honored him as its Pitcher of the Week.
