FORT WORTH, Texas - Junior Scott McCracken and freshman Jennifer Ferguson were named the Mountain West Conference Men's Swimmer and Women's Diver of the Week, respectively, the league office announced Wednesday. Ferguson has now won the award for three consecutive weeks.
McCracken, a first-time recipient of the award, earned the honor for his efforts against Air Force and Wyoming, where he won three events. The Houston, Texas, native took the 50-free against Air Force in a time of 21.33, and came back two days later to sweep the sprint events against Wyoming. In the 50-free, McCracken recorded a time of 21.29, while winning the 100-free at a clocking of 47.10. McCracken was also part of the 400-free relay team that won the event to seal the victory against the Cowboys.
Ferguson, a freshman diver from Beaconfield, Quebec, won her third consecutive weekly award after sweeping the diving events at Air Force and Wyoming. Against the Falcons, Ferguson slated a score of 285.75 in the one-meter dive, while recording a 303.75 in the three-meter, the fifth-highest score in school history. At Wyoming, Ferguson took wins in the one-meter (277.58) and three-meter (311.33) diving events, earning the fourth-best score in the three-meter dive in TCU history. The four wins last week increased Ferguson's record to 10-0 in her collegiate career.
The Frogs have now accounted for five MWC weekly awards, as senior Erica Tate was recognized for her efforts against North Texas and Incarnate Word on Nov. 1.
The men and women's swimming and diving team will return to action Saturday at 11 a.m. at the University Recreation Center against San Diego State and Centenary.
