TCU middle blocker Anna Vaughn answers your questions about the volleyball team.
TCU Moderator: Hello everyone. We are going to start the chat now. Sorry for the late start.
Blewbury, Oxfordshire, England: Do you know in advance if the setter will 'set' the ball for you or someone else?
Anna Vaughn: No, you run the play like you are going to hit everytime to fake out the blockers.
Carrie (Fort Worth): How do you rate the team's play in last night's win over North Texas?
Anna Vaughn: It was a good performance. There are definitely some things that we need to work on. Mainly, minimizing errors and staying focused until the end.
Dawn (Arlington): Are you impressed with how well Nirelle Hampton has played as a freshman?
Anna Vaughn: Yes, it is intimidating coming in as a freshman and playing at this level. Nirelle has taken that role and she gets better every game.
Gary (Long Beach): What is Prentice Lewis like as a head coach?
Anna Vaughn: She definitely knows the game. She is one of the best coaches I have ever played for. Very encouraging and demanding at the same time.
Sherman: what do you think of the new conference?
Anna Vaughn: There is a lot of good competition. It is exciting to get to play new teams and it will be a good challenge for us.
Fort Worth: Your team looks physically stronger than most of the teams you have played this year. Can you tell me about your strength and conditiong program.
Anna Vaughn: We do work really hard in the weightroom. Getting up early in the morning is a little rough sometimes, but our strength coach really knows what he is talking about and we can see the results.
jaime (Salt Lake City): What's it like having so many players from different states on the team?
Anna Vaughn: It is interesting, it adds a different dynamic to our team. It is fun to see where people come from and what they are use to, compared to Texas.
Greensboro (-ville), NC: When is the next game you play in North Carolina?
Anna Vaughn: Since the conference change, most of matches are played out west. We are not going to make it out to North Carolina this year but possibly next year.
armstrong (houston): What's the biggest crowd you've played in front of? The loudest?
Anna Vaughn: Probably at Louisville was the biggest crowd. It helps that their gym is small and they are close to the court. The loudest, would probably be last night. With a bunch of high school girls, I could barely hear myself talk. It makes it exciting.
Georgetown: Who's your favorite non volleyball athlete ?
Anna Vaughn: I really enjoy watching tennis, because I can't play it at all. Federer or Roddick would be my favorites.
Garza (Woodlands): Do you think that higher altitude at some of the Mountain West conference sites (Air Force) will affect how the Frogs play?
Anna Vaughn: It will present a challenge for us, but I think that we are prepared to adapt to such a change in environment. Playing in the Denver Tournament, we got a little taste of it and I still think that we played well.
armstrong (houston):: do you have any brothers or sisters?
Anna Vaughn: Yes, I have an older brother who is 23 and he is a computer science engineering major at UTA. I don't know what I would do without him. He provides me so much technical support.
Richardson: Where is your biggest fan base?
Anna Vaughn: My personal fan base is my family. My grandfather and my dad come to most of the matches. And, my cousin and her family show up with their purple tees quite a bit.
Austins (Richardson): Is travel to all the new Conference locations harder on the players academically?
Anna Vaughn: We do travel a little bit more in this conference. There is a few more mid-week matches, which makes the scheduling a little more difficult. For the most part, you learn as a student-athlete to budget your time wisely and that is the key to success.
TCU Moderator: Thanks to everyone for posting questions in the chat tonight. Be sure to check back next week when another TCU volleyball player will be here to answer questions.
