FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU has announced the hiring of Kristie Le as associate director of athletics media relations. She will begin her duties Sept. 26.
Le, who hails from Dallas, will oversee the media relations efforts for the Horned Frogs' men's basketball, cross country and track & field programs. She will also assist in day-to-day as well as gameday operations of TCU's 19 championship sports, including the daily maintenance of the Horned Frogs' web site.
Prior to Le's hire at TCU, she has been the director of media relations at the Southland Conference for two and a half years. She handled the publicity efforts for the league's women's sports, including soccer, volleyball, women's basketball and softball. In addition, she was responsible for women's golf and men's and women's tennis while also assisting with football and outdoor track & field.
Le was involved in the creation and/or assistance of league publications, including media guides for football and men's and women's basketball as well as the Southland's record book and basketball tournament program. She also coordinated the academic awards efforts at the Southland, including the Honors Ceremony held annually at the league's spring meetings in Galveston, Texas.
Before coming to the Southland, Le worked in the Texas Tech athletics media relations office for two years as a student assistant and also interned with the American Junior Golf Association in the summer of 2002. At the AJGA, she shared responsibilities for administering public relations tasks, writing press releases and tournament set up for the Northeast team.
While at Tech, she served as the primary contact for the men's and women's golf teams. She was also part of the gameday operations staff for football and men's and women's basketball. Le holds a bachelor's degree in public relations with a minor in political science from Texas Tech.
"I am very thrilled about this great opportunity at TCU," Le said. "TCU is a great school, academically and athletically, and I'm really excited to be a part of it. With the Horned Frogs also joining the Mountain West Conference this year, I'm looking forward to promoting TCU athletics as the school begins a great new era."
Le has worked several NCAA postseason tournaments as a media relations assistant. Most recently, she was the media distribution coordinator at the first and second rounds of the 2005 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship in Oklahoma City and served as a media relations assistant at the 2004 NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four in San Antonio. She also has been a media relations volunteer for the annual Cotton Bowl the past three years.
