FORT WORTH, Texas -- Included below is a visit with TCU wide receiver Quentily Harmon. A two-year letterman and junior from Jacksonville, Texas, Harmon has 31 career receptions for 448 yards and six touchdowns.Q: What are your thoughts on how the Horned Frogs are looking thus far in preseason camp?
A: We're looking good. The defense is moving real fast and flying to the ball. I'm real excited about what they're doing out there. I believe the defense is going to lead us like they've done in the past. When that happens, the defense really gets the offense going. Our offense has also done well. We're getting our timing down and the receivers are running great routes. The backs have also done a super job. We're looking very hungry and excited about the upcoming season.
Q: The receivers appear to be a close-knit group. What is your position like?
A: There's a lot of good competition with nobody set in a starting spot. Everybody is going hard and competing everyday. We're really focusing on catching the ball and running our routes. We're also working on maintaining our perimeter blocking.
Q: What is it like catching balls from starting quarterback Tye Gunn?
A: Tye has a good deep ball. It's exciting to see him back healthy and going strong. He's a good leader who keeps everyone poised. It's just great to have him back there.
Q: How do the freshmen look to you?
A: It's a very exciting class. There's a lot of talent and speed. Stephen Hodge (safefy from Tatum, Texas) is a great hitter. If you came to the scrimmage yesterday, you saw what he could do. He's such a big hitter. It's definitely a class to watch in the coming years.
Q: What's it like to be in an offense like TCU features?
A: It's a very exciting offense because you run so many different formations and nobody has the spotlight. We have two great running backs (past 1,000-yard rushers Lonta Hobbs and Robert Merrill) and a lot of talented receivers. We also have a great coaching staff. The coaches believe in our offense and our players. There's a good trust there.
Q: What are you like away from the football field?
A: I would say I'm on the funny side. I like to make people laugh and keep a smile on my face. I never want to show anybody that I'm down. I'm definitely a people person.
TCU, with six bowl trips in the last seven seasons, opens the 2005 campaign Sept. 3 at No. 5 Oklahoma. The game will be seen regionally on ABC-TV.
