FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU right-handed pitcher Lance Broadway was named the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week for his performance this past weekend against the Louisville Cardinals. The honor marks the third in Broadway's career and the sixth for the Frogs this spring.
Broadway picked up his nation-leading 12th win of the season in a complete-game victory on Friday night vs. Louisville, setting a new school record for victories in a season. He struck out 12 batters and walked just one, breaking the school's single-season strikeout record with 125. Broadway allowed just one run on six singles as he recorded his sixth double-figure strikeout game of the season. The Frogs improved to 12-1 in games that Broadway starts.
Broadway has been honored twice this season following a dominating complete-game effort against the No. 5 Rice Owls and another complete-game effort against the Houston Cougars. Also honored this season was Shelby Ford, who earned Conference USA Hitter of the Week on Feb. 14. Keith Conlon was named Hitter of the Week on April 11, while Matt McGuirk followed a week later with his first career Hitter of the Week honors on April 18.
The son of Jackie and Toni Harrison and Lynn and Dawn Broadway, Broadway is a native of Grand Prairie, Texas and a transfer from Dallas Baptist.
