Former TCU track & field all-Americans Michael Frater and Aundre Edwards have been named to the 10-man Conference USA All-Decade team, the conference office announced today.
Frater earned five all-America certificates in outdoor track - three times in the 100 meter dash and twice on the 4x100 meter relay squad. He placed fourth in the 100 at the 2002 NCAA meet, third in the 100 at the 2003 NCAA meet and second in the 100 at the 2004 meet (10.06 seconds), missing the national title by eight-thousandths of a second. The relay teams finished sixth in 2002 and fourth in 2004. He also won the conference 100 meter title in both 2002 and 2004 and finished second in 2003. He won the 200 meter dash in 2002 and was on a pair of gold medal-winning 4x1 relays at the conference meet.
Edwards earned three all-America certificates in the long jump during the outdoor track & field season, placing fifth in 2002 (7.85m), fourth in 2003 (7.90m) and fourth in 2004 (7.96m). He logged two gold medals at the Conference USA outdoor championships in the long jump (2003 and 2004) and earned the bronze medal in 2002. His best career jump was 8.00 meters.
Frater and Edwards join former TCU stars Eliud Njubi, Mary Kinyanjui and Glady's Keitany, who were honored in cross country; and Jerry Harris and Jackson Langat, who were honored during the indoor track season, as All-Decade performers. The women's outdoor track & field team will be announced on Wednesday.
