The TCU Flyin' Frogs track & field teams will take the short bus trip to Arlington this Saturday to compete in the UTA Invitational at Maverick Stadium. Field events begin at 9 a.m., while the first running event is slated for 1 p.m.
"We are looking to take a second step in the outdoor season," said TCU head coach Darryl Anderson. "Hopefully the weather will be much better than it was last Saturday in Waco. We will be a little short-handed this week without our football players, Otis McDaniel, Michael DePriest and Quincy Butler, competing because of a scrimmage on Saturday. We will have to make some substitutions on the relay teams. I expect us to compete at the highest level each week," continued Anderson. "This meet is important because it is our last tuneup before the Texas Relays."
Raymond Jones is expected to take McDaniel's place in the 4x100 meter relay and will team with Jay Cooper, Bradley Reed and Cleavon Dillon. The men's 4x4 will feature Jacob Hernandez, Reed, Jackson Langat and Brett Wilson. Nathandra John, Deborah Jones, Jamee Jones and Kandis Bell are slated to represent TCU in the women's 4x1 relay.
The Frogs will have one addition as JimAnne Baker joins the squad following the completion of the women's basketball season. Baker will compete in the long jump event this week. She was the Conference USA silver medalist in the long jump at the outdoor meet a year ago and placed 17th at the NCAA Championships in the event.
