FORT WORTH, Texas -- The Mountain West Conference champion TCU football team places among the national leaders in the NCAA's new Graduation Success Rate.
With an 86 percent mark, the 14th-ranked Horned Frogs are 11th overall among Division I-A members and fourth out of teams ranked in the final 2005 Bowl Championship Series standings. TCU trails only No. 6 Notre Dame (96 percent), No. 25 Northwestern (92 percent) and No. 21 Boston College (89 percent).
The Frogs, who lead the Mountain West Conference in their Graduation Success Rate, are fifth overall among 2005 bowl teams.
"The scores on the Graduation Success Rate are a direct result of wonderful teamwork within our program," TCU Athletics Director Danny Morrison said. "Our athletic academic services office does an outstanding job in working with our coaching staff.
"Without the support of our coaches and their emphasis on seeing our student-athletes succeed academically, this would not be possible."
The TCU football team's 86 percent Graduation Success Rate is identical to that of the Horned Frogs' entire athletics program. Six sports (women's cross country/track and field, men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis and women's swimming and diving) posted 100 percent scores.
