TCU Athletics Department names monthly award winners

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Athletics Department has announced its male and female monthly award winners for November. Diver Kelly Seely grabbed Female Student-Athlete of the Month honors, football player Tommy Blake was named the Male Student-Athlete of the Month, cross country runner Cassie Hostick garnered Female Scholar-Athlete of the Month accolades and football player Chris Manfredini was voted Male Scholar-Athlete of the Month.
Seely, a senior from Friendswood, Texas, enjoyed an impressive month, as she was twice named the Mountain West Conference Diver of the Week (Nov. 9 and Nov. 23) and also was tabbed the TCU Student-Athlete of the Week on Nov. 9. Seely won seven of the eight events in which she competed during the month, helping TCU to a 6-1 dual meet mark. Her highlight came against Air Force, when she broke a 14-year-old school record with a 6-dive score of 322.28 on the 3-meter board.
Blake, a sophomore defensive end, helped key a TCU defense that did not allow a touchdown in November wins over Colorado State and UNLV. Over the two games, he totaled 13 tackles (8 solo, 5 assists) and had a combined five stops for a loss. TCU held Colorado State and UNLV to three field goals, 64 yards rushing and 410 yards of offense. With the victories, the school recorded its first outright conference championship since 1958.
To be eligible for the Horned Frogs' Scholar-Athlete of the Month, student-athletes must have a minimum 3.2 grade-point average. Hostick, who hails from Cedar Park, Texas, led the Horned Frogs at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships, placing 29th among 122 competitors. The sophomore finished the event with a time of 22:46.20 to guide TCU to an eighth-place team finish.
Manfredini, the team's placekicker, was 4-for-4 on field goals and 10-of-10 on point-after attempts during the Frogs' two November contests. He made good on all three of his 3-point tries in TCU's 51-3 win over UNLV. The sophomore from Colleyville, Texas, completed his first TCU season with a perfect 12-for-12 mark on field goals.
