MORRISTOWN, N.J. -- The Mountain West Conference champion TCU football team is 14th in the Bowl Championship Series standings released today.Teams that have won at least nine games and are ranked among the top 12 in the final BCS standings are eligible for selection as an at-large team. The final BCS standings will be released Dec. 4.
The Frogs (10-1, 8-0) moved up three spots from last week. It's the 17th time TCU has appeared in the BCS standings, the most of any school playing in a conference without an automatic BCS bid. Boise State and Utah are tied for second at 12.
TCU, USC and Texas are the only teams in the nation with 10 wins. The Frogs have won nine in a row for the third-longest current winning streak in the country, behind only the Trojans (32) and Longhorns (17).
TCU, picked to finish sixth in the Mountain West Conference, has reached 10 wins for the fourth time in the last six seasons.
Gary Patterson is the first Frog head coach to record three 10-win campaigns. Patterson has been on staff for four of the eight 10-win seasons in TCU history. He was defensive coordinator under Dennis Franchione in 2000.
