
Rodgers receives midseason All-America honor

FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU football standout Cory Rodgers has been named a second-team midseason All-America at kick returner by CollegeFootballNews.com.Rodgers has returned two of his eight kickoff returns for touchdowns for the 21st-ranked Horned Frogs (6-1, 4-0). He is the only player in Division I-A this season to have two kick returns for scores.
Rodgers' 42.4 kickoff return average would lead the nation if he had enough attempts to qualify for listing. To be eligible, 1.2 attempts per game is required. Rodgers is currently at 1.1.
Darrell Blackman of N.C. State is the first-team kick returner selection. He currently is listed as the nation's leader in average at 41.6 yards.
A junior from Houston, Rodgers is the only player in the Mountain West Conference this season to return a kickoff for a touchdown. It took Rodgers just four games to tie the MWC career record in kickoff returns for touchdowns (two). He's already the single-season leader with those two scores.
Rodgers tops the Mountain West Conference in punt returns (16.0 avg.) while ranking 10th nationally. He's also third in the MWC and 32nd in Division I-A in all-purpose yards (134.9).
Rodgers is fifth in the league and 46th in the country in receptions per game (5.3). Rodgers' 37 grabs more than double the next-closest Frog (Quentily Harmon, 17).
