
Frogs stepping out of conference

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU volleyball team will use its bye week from conference play to compete in the UT-Pan Am tournament in Edinburg, Texas this Saturday. The Frogs will take on the Prairie View A&M Panthers at 1 p.m. and the UT-Pan Am Lady Broncs, the host institution, at 7 p.m.
Prairie View A&M comes into the weekend riding a five-match win streak. The Panthers are 9-11 on the season and are led by Lindsey Taylor, who is averaging 2.38 kills per game.
UTPA holds a 5-13 record overall and is coming off of a 2-1 week that included victories over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (28-30, 30-19, 30-24, 30-20) and North Dakota State (24-30, 28-30, 30-22, 30-28, 15-12). In the process, head coach Dave Thorn picked up his 100th career win as a head coach.
TCU is currently 12-9 on the season and 10-4 in non-conference play. Junior Anna Vaughn leads the team in kills this season with 307 and leads the Mountain West Conference in the respective category. The junior middle-blocker has also hauled in all-tournament honors in all four the Frogs have competed in this season.
Senior Hayley Harmon is playing her best volleyball of the season as her career with the Purple and White winds down. The Kansas City, Mo., product is averaging 3.33 kills per game over her last three matches, which is well above her 1.90 per game average for the season.
After the weekend slate, the Frogs will return to conference play and their home floor of the University Rec Center on Tuesday night to host Colorado State at 7.
