The TCU football squad completed its third day of practice on Wednesday morning. With temperatures hovering around 80 degrees, the Frogs went through a two-hour workout, adding shoulder pads for the first time this fall. Here are some quotes from Coach Gary Patterson following today's workout.
QUOTES FROM DAY THREE OF CAMP
Quoting Coach Patterson
"I thought offensively we did a nice job in team period. The defense likes to blitz, but the bottom line is we've got to be able to play up front and in coverage. We owned the blitz period and offensively they owned the rest of the period. I thought the offense, for the first time in pads, did a great job."
"I was excited about the play of the special teams. This was the best special teams play that we've had in a long time. In all four phases, I thought there was great teaching and there was knowledge of what we were doing, which is always important in your first ball game."
"One thing I am excited about is I think that our offensive line is way ahead of where we have been the last two years. Again, that just goes back to the offense. I think our "ones" and maybe our "one and a halfs" have a good idea of what we're trying to get accomplished."
On the progress of freshman receivers at cornerback:
"It got better, Donald Massey made a couple of plays today. We've got to grow up here. Obviously, the wide receivers had a lot better summer because they are a lot better than the defensive backs are right now. We've got to work to get back ahead in that category."
Quoting Martin Patterson
On getting in the pads for the first time:
"To tell the truth, we didn't have the day that we wanted, but it was still a pretty good day. We progressed, it probably wasn't as much as we should have, but I believe tomorrow will be three times better."
