Fort Worth, Texas - Conference USA named TCU pitcher Chad Underwood Pitcher of the Week for his performance this past week. The honor is the third for TCU baseball this season and the first for Underwood. Previous winners for the Frogs this season were Chad Huffman (Mar. 22) and Clayton Jerome (Mar. 29).
Underwood came out of the bullpen to pick up two victories last week for TCU. After allowing a run in his first inning of relief at No. 13 Oklahoma on April 20, he went on to shut down the Sooners over the rest of his 4 1/3 innings pitched, striking out four to earn his first win. Underwood then did not allow an earned run in four innings of relief against Saint Louis on Saturday, striking out four and walking none to gain his second win of the week and sixth of the season.
The son of Bart and Jean Ann Underwood, he is a native of Mesquite, Texas and a 2000 graduate of Poteet High School. He is a double major in finance and accounting.
