
TCU Invitational Set For Saturday

The fifth annual TCU Invitational Track & Field Meet is set for the Lowdon Track & Field Complex on Saturday, April 17. This year's field is expected to include team from Texas (men), Rice (men), Mississippi State, Tulsa, Louisiana Tech, Northwestern (La.) State, South Plains College, Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston State and Barton County (Kan.) Community College. The field events are slated to begin at 11 a.m., while the running events will start at noon.
"This is a great opportunity for TCU and the Fort Worth community to show their support for our nationally-recognized track & field program," said TCU head coach Monte Stratton. "It's always a highlight for our kids to have a chance to compete in front of the hometown fans. With the warm temperatures expected, I think we'll put on a good show on Saturday."
The TCU Flyin' Frogs men's track & field team is currently ranked sixth in the nation in the Trackwire Top 25 poll after placing eighth in the country during the indoor season. The Frogs are expected to tally 31 points at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, which will be held in Austin, Texas, June 9-12. The poll has the following Frogs slated to score points at the meet: Michael Frater -3rd in the 100; Jabari Fields - 8th in the 100; Jerry Harris - 4th in the 400; Jackson Langat - 4th in the 800; 4x100 meter relay - 2nd; 4x400 meter relay - 5th; and Aundre Edwards - 7th in the long jump. On the women's side, the Frogs' 4x100 meter relay unit is slated to place eighth at the NCAA meet.
