The TCU Flyin' Frogs track & field teams return to the track on Saturday, March 27, when they travel to Maverick Stadium in Arlington to take part in the UTA Invitational. The meet is the final tuneup prior to the Texas Relays, which will be held in Austin next weekend.
"This is our second meet of the outdoor season, so we are looking for some improvements on our performances from last week," said TCU head coach Monte Stratton. "We have just about everyone competing this week. However, we will use them sparingly as we get ready for the Texas Relays. UTA has put together a solid field for this meet, so it will give us a good early indication of where we're at at this point of the season."
Some of the keys events to watch featuring the Flyin' Frogs include the men's 400 meter dash, which features NCAA silver medalist Jerry Harris, along with Dwayne Lynes-Bell and Brett Wilson; the men's 4x100 meter relay which includes Jabari Fields, Cleavon Dillon, Aundre Edwards and Michael Frater; MaKeatha Cooper in the 100 meter hurdles; the women's 200 meter dash, featuring Kandis Bell, Donita Harmon and Virgil Hodge; and Mary Kinyanjui in the 1500 meter run.
The meet gets underway at 9 a.m. on the UTA campus with the field events. The running events are slated to begin at 1 p.m. with the final event slated for 7:55 p.m. Teams expected to compete in addition to TCU include: UTA, Wichita State, North Texas, Baylor, SMU, Oklahoma, Oral Roberts, Tulsa, Illinois, Barton County (Kan.) CC, Southwestern Christian, Tarleton State, Augustana College, Texas A&M-Commerce, McMurry, Northwood, Missouri-Rolla, Iowa, Butler County (Kan.) CC and Paul Quinn.
