The TCU track & field program has signed Ashley Young to a national letter of intent during the early signing period, cross country coach Patrick Cunniff announced today.
Young, a senior at Lewisville (Texas) High School, will compete in both cross country and track at TCU, beginning in the fall of 2005. Her top prep times on the track include a 2:17.80 800 meters, while her best cross country time this fall was 11:16 in a two-mile event.
"Ashley is one of the top returning 800 meter runners in the state of Texas," said Cunniff. "She will be able to help us in the middle distance events on the track from 800 up to 3,000 meters. She had an outstanding senior cross country season and while only running competitively for the past two years, has tremendous potential."
Young is the daughter of Dan and Teresa Young of Lewisville. Her high school coach is Ray White.
