FROGS BEGIN TWO-GAME C-USA ROADTRIP: The TCU Horned Frogs (4-3, 2-2 C-USA) begin a two-game Conference USA roadtrip when they travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to face the Cincinnati Bearcats (3-4, 2-2 C-USA) in a 3:05 p.m. ET (2:05 p.m. CT) contest on Saturday, October 30. The game will be televised in the DFW Metroplex on KXTA-UPN 21. After this contest the Frogs will prepare for a nationally-televised (ESPN2) battle at Louisville, scheduled for Wednesday, November 10. Game time for that tilt is now set for 7:30 p.m. ET (6:30 p.m. CT) and will be the final regular season road game for the Frogs in 2004.
WHAT'S TRANSPIRED: TCU opened the season with a pair of wins over Northwestern and SMU and finished the non-conference portion of their season with a 2-1 record. They are tied for fourth place in Conference USA with a 2-2 record, posting wins at Army and versus Houston, while dropping a double overtime decision to USF and falling at UAB. Cincinnati was 1-2 in non-conference action, sandwiching a win over Miami (Ohio) around losses at Ohio State and Syracuse. They are also 2-2 in C-USA action, with wins over East Carolina and Memphis and losses to UAB and Army. Both teams are coming off wins, with TCU defeating Houston last week in Fort Worth by a 34-27 count, while Cincinnati routed Memphis by a 49-10 margin.
TCU-CINCINNATI SERIES: This is the third meeting between the two schools with each team winning on their home field. Cincinnati posted a 36-29 overtime victory at Nippert Stadium in 2002, rallying from a 15-point deficit in the final 5:17 of regulation to send the game into overtime. The Frogs did not allow history to repeat itself, outscoring the Bearcats 23-0 in the second half en route to a 43-10 victory in Fort Worth last November. This is the final game of the scheduled series between the two schools. Next season TCU will be in the Mountain West Conference while Cincinnati will move to the Big East Conference.
BOWL HOPES ENHANCED: With last week's win over Houston, the Frogs (4-3) kept their bowl hopes alive and well. TCU needs to win two of its last four games to become bowl eligible for the seventh straight season. The Frogs remaining games are at Cincinnati (3-4), at #14 Louisville (5-1), at home vs. #25 Southern Miss (5-1) and at home against Tulane (2-4).
