The TCU men's and women's cross country teams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas to take part in the Chile Pepper Invitational. The women will compete in a 6K event, while the men will run a 10K distance on the Agri Park cross country course. The men's race is set for a 9:30 a.m. start, while the women will toe the starting line at 10:30 a.m.
"There are two huge meets in the nation this weekend - the pre-nationals and the Chile Pepper," said TCU cross country coach Derek Koonts. "The competition will be very good at the Chile Pepper. The women should compete well, while the men are running a 10K for the first time, which will take some adjustment. This is a good opportunity to run well and is a final dress rehearsal before the conference meet," continued Koonts. "Who runs well here will decide who is going to represent us at the conference meet in two weeks."
The TCU women are ranked fifth in the latest South Central Regional Poll with 101 points, trailing Arkansas (132), Baylor (129), Texas A&M (117) and Texas (105). The TCU men's squad remains 17th in the latest poll with four points.
The Conference USA Cross Country Championships are scheduled for Tampa, Fla. on Saturday, November 1.
