Baseball Team Suffers 15-7 Loss to Nevada

RENO, Nev. -- JaRell McIntyre's four hits led Nevada to a 15-7 win over TCU Friday at Peccole Park. The Frogs drop to 21-14 overall, 12-6 in Western Athletic Conference play. The Wolf Pack improve to 19-15 overall, 10-9 in WAC action.
The Wolf Pack scored runs in six of the eight innings, including three runs in each of the final two innings. As a team, Nevada had 19 hits, including eight extra-base hits. McIntyre singled in the first, third, eighth and doubled in the fourth. Chris Dickerson drove in four runs on three hits, while Mike Gillies extended his hitting streak to 20 games with three base hits.
TCU scored three runs in the first on three hits, the biggest a Jason Price two-run single. Nevada starter Jason Mackinstosh settled down after the opening inning, holding TCU to only two hits in the next four innings. Down 9-3 entering the sixth, the Frogs rallied for four runs with two outs. Tom Bates homered to right, then Price walked and Mike Settle singled. Jonathan Marshall followed with a three-run home run, his third of the year. Bates led TCU with three hits, while Settle and Marshall each had two hits.
The Wolf Pack scored the final six runs of the game, increasing the lead to 15-7. Bo Bryant had a two-run triple in the seventh, and Dickerson added a two-run home run in the eighth.
TCU starter Chris Bradshaw (6-3) allowed five runs on nine hits to suffer his second straight loss. Reliever Chad Durham pitched the final five innings, allowing 10 earned runs on 10 hits. Mackintosh (4-4) earned the win, allowing seven runs on eight hits in six innings. Clint Kofmehl pitched three scoreless innings to earn his first save of the year.
TCU won the series opener on Thursday with a 12-7 victory. The series will resume on Saturday with a single game scheduled for 1:05 p.m. Pacific time (3:05 p.m. central). The fourth and final game of the series is scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
