New Baseball Stadium Plans
3/7/2001 12:00:00 AM | Baseball
Horned Frog athletics are moving into national prominence, and a new baseball stadium is our next step on the road to recognition.
This will be a stadium second only in the Metroplex to the Ballpark at Arlington - fit for a program that's working toward national recognition - that will help TCU attract top-notch recruits - that will benefit the University and the community - at last the stadium Coach Lance Brown and the Horned Frog team deserve.
When the facility, estimated at $7 million, is complete, it will boast:
- 3,500 seats
- full night lighting
- luxury suites
- ample parking
- locker rooms for home and visiting teams
- batting/pitching cages
- training rooms
- press box
- field office for TCU's head coach
The stadium is planned for the area bounded by the Bayard Friedman Tennis Center on the north, the Lowdon Track on the west and the Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium on the east. Home plate will be on the northwest corner of this space, making the right field fence parallel with Berry Street.
The future of baseball at TCU depends on this new stadium. Under Coach Lance Brown, TCU
- won more than 400 games in the last 14 years
- participated in the NCAA Regionals in 1994
- won the Southwest Conference title in 1994
- saw 36 Frogs earn All-Conference honors
- had six players earn All-American honors
- had three second-place finishes in the WAC
How to Participate
TCU has fielded an All-Star fund-raising steering committee to put our baseball program in the Big Leagues. They are heading a multi-phase effort to involve as many Horned Frog fans as possible. The first phase will be the search for one company or individual to make the naming gift for the ballpark of $3.5 million and other leadership gifts. The second phase will enlist members of TCU's Team 100. Team members will contribute $25,000 each and will be rewarded with four season tickets for five years, permanent recognition in the stadium and a chance to win a PT Cruiser. In the third phase, we're looking for Horned Frog fans to make a wide variety of gifts from $10,000 to $100, all with recognition in the stadium. Of course, we appreciate every gift of any size. If you wish to contribute, please fill at the commitment form below. You have up to five years to complete your gift.
These opportunities add up to a homerun for TCU Baseball!
