TCU Stuns Charlotte, 10-1

Round Rock-- TCU starter Justin Crowder pitched seven strong innings, allowing only four hits, to lead TCU to a 10-1 win over Charlotte Saturday in the Express College Classic. The Frogs are now 4-4 this season, while Charlotte drops to 1-3.
In his first start of the season, Crowder struck out three and walked four. The Frogs turned three double plays behind Crowder, who earned his first win of the season. Patrick Newburn pitched the final two innings, allowing a pair of hits.
TCU scored one run in the second, then three more in the fourth inning. Jason Prices one-out home run in the fourth got the TCU bats on track. Jared Lundeen walked, Austen Watkins singled and Ramon Moses followed with a base hit to right that scored Lundeen. Watkins came around to score on Terry Trofholz groundout.
TCU broke the game open in the eighth, scoring three runs on a Watkins double to left center. Walter Olmstead singled, Crowder singled and Price walked to load the bases. Lundeen reached on a fielders choice that retired Olmstead at the plate. Watkins then doubled, driving in all three runs.
Watkins led the Frogs with a pair of hits and four runs batted in. Olmstead had three hits, while Crowder and Price each added a pair of hits for the Frogs. TCU will return to action on Sunday afternoon, when they face Southwest Texas State at the Dell Diamond. Game time is 4 p.m. The game will be broadcast by KTCU 88.7 FM.
