HONOLULU, Hawaii (Oct. 7) - Hawaii proved its #2 national ranking to TCU with a 3-0 shutout October 7 at the Stan Sheriff Center. The loss evened TCU's conference record to 2-2 and its overall record to 10-9, while Hawaii improved to 14-0 overall and 4-0 in the WAC.
Offensively the Frogs could not get it going against the national powerhouse as Hawaii held TCU to a .000 hitting percentage through games one and two and just .043 for the match. The low hitting percentage was a combination of TCU's 21 attack errors and Hawaii's 12.5 blocks.
"I was disappointed in our passing and our serving," said head coach Sandy Troudt. "It's tough to get anything going on offense if you don't pass the ball well and we did not pass well. I thought we did a good job digging balls off their attacks, but we need to control our passes better."
TCU's ability to dig balls showed up on the stat sheet as they held the Rainbow Wahine to a fairly low .237 attack percentage. Rachel Shirley and Tori Barlow led the Frogs with 10 digs apiece while Lindsay Hayes added eight digs.
The Frogs return home this week to face UTEP and Rice on October 13 and 14.
