Soccer Frogs Blast Belmont 8-0, Lahoud Fifth Shutout

Fort Worth, Texas (October 20, 2000) -- The TCU men's soccer team came in to Friday's match coming off back-to-back 1-0 losses to Western Kentucky and Evansville, but the Frogs put their frustrations behind them and scored a season high eight goals in their victory over Missouri Valley foe Belmont. The Horned Frogs evened their overall record for the year at 7-7 and improved their Missouri Valley Conference record to 3-4. Belmont dropped their overall record to 1-13 and 0-7 in conference play.
The game's first goal was scored on a penalty kick taken by TCU junior defender Davis Bland. The goal was Bland's first career goal as a Horned Frog. TCU's other seven goals were scored by six different players, including freshman midfielder Andrew Porteous, who scored the final goal of the game. The goal was Porteous' first career goal as well.
Sophomore forward Ryan Parsley scored two goals in the match, giving him four for the season. Juniors Nick Baker and Bobby Montes also scored their fourth goals of the year. Senior midfielder Brad Johnson scored his second goal of the year and sophomore midfielder Nick Browne scored his fourth goal of the year.
TCU sophomore goalkeeper Michael Lahoud earned his fifth shutout of the season and second in the Missouri Valley Conference. Lahoud has given up only two goals in his last four matches and has a goals against average of a mere 1.17.
The Horned Frogs will play their final home match of the year against Vanderbilt on Sunday, October 22, at 1 p.m. The game will be the final home match for seniors Brad Johnson, Mike Martin, Matt Groves, and Doak VanEnk.
