Lorenzen Collects Two Wins This Summer

Erin Lorenzen and Lauren Sullivan have seen success at several shooting events this summer. Lorenzen posted her second consecutive win at the National Smallbore Rifle NRA 3-Position Championships held in Camp Perry, Ohio. She also collected three medals abroad in the Czech Republic.

The TCU woman's rifle team traveled to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. for the 2008 National Jr. Olympic Championships. The team shot well in both air rifle and smallbore. Erin Lorenzen led the team in both events. Lorenzen's second place finish in air rifle gave her a spot on the National Development Team. This is the second consecutive year that Lorenzen has earned a place on the team.

After coming off of the most successful season in the team's history, threemembers of the TCU woman's rifle team received All-American honors for theiraccomplishments and good shooting this season. The official announcementswere made following the NCAA National Championship match, in which the Frogsfinished in third place.

The TCU Rifle team wrapped up match play at the NCAA Championships, claiming a third-place finish with an aggregate score of 4,627. The Frogs, who were in second place following the smallbore competition on Friday, shot a 2,315 in air rifle Saturday to earn their highest finish in the NCAA championships in school history. Alaska- Fairbanks claimed their third straight National Championship with an aggregate of 4,662, while Army came in second with a score of 4.652.

The TCU woman's rifle team finds itself tied for second place at the NCAA National Championship with defending champions Alaska-Fairbanks after the first day of competition. The frogs amassed a score of 2,312 points in smallbore with one more day of competition remaining. The match's host, Army sits atop of the leader board with a score of 2,318.

Rifle takes aim at national championship

The TCU woman's rifle team is in search of their first national champions this weekend in West Point, N.Y. at the NCAA National Rifle Championship. The team is competing amongst the best in the country including Nebraska, West Virginia, Nevada and defending champions, Alaska-Fairbanks. TCU has seen a great amount of success this season and will rely on past experience as it makes its second straight appearance at the championships.

Last week, the TCU woman's rifle team shot at the 2008 Olympic qualifier match in Colorado Springs, Colo. The team fared well, having threeof four shooters finish in the top 20. The team used the match not only to try and represent their country, but also to prepare for the NCAAChampionships in West Point, N.Y, which begins on March 18.

The woman's rifle team narrowly escaped with a win on Saturday in their last regular season match against the Nevada Wolfpack. The win helped solidify the Frogs' position in the national championship competition in March. The Frogs extended their winning streak to six, posting an aggregate score of 4,627. The Wolfpack trailed by only one point with an aggregate of 4,626.

The Frogs have carried their momentum since January with wins against some of the nation's top rifle programs. The woman's rifle team defeated UTEP this past weekend to earn its fifth straight victory. As a team, the Frogs shot an aggregate score of 4640 to record the win. Only eight points separated the Frogs, who claimed four of the top five individual aggregate scores, from the Miners.

The TCU woman's rifle team won their third straight match on Saturday against the Air Force Falcons at home in Fort Worth. They set a season high aggregate score with 4,644 points. The Frogs also set a new school record for aggregate smallbore score with 2,311 points breaking the previous mark of 2,290 in 2006.

Frogs pull out an historic victory in Lincoln

The woman¹s rifle team traveled to Nebraska last weekend and returned home with a victory over the Cornhuskers. This was the first time in school history that the Frogs defeated Nebraska. The victory was sweetened by the fact that the team aggregates for both TCU and Nebraska, were the highest of the year. TCU topped Nebraska 4641-4627.
